This table lamp features an image from the classic karakuri book Karakuri Zui (eighteen century japanese automata) of a Chahakobi Ningyo, or mechanical tea serving doll.
I designed and made this lamp for karakuri master Tamaya Shobei IX, and it shows a Chahakobi progressivly rolling through the sceen of all four lamp panels.
