This Japanese inspired lamp features images from the eighteenth century Japanese book on karakuri ningyo (automata dolls) called Karakuri Zui. In particular the lamp shows a 'Magic Doll' that lifts an upside-down masu (a box once use to measure liquids and rice) to reveal various different surprises. I have added my own touch to the surprises, being a fan or old Bugs Bunny cartoons...
