For this lamp I have use antique katazome stencil paper, which is traditionally used for kimono pattern making. The washi is coated with multiple layers of fermented persimmon juice, known as kakishibu, which strengthens and waterproofs the fibers. It has a deep red-brown colour when light is shone through, giving off a warm glow. This particular pattern features a draping wisteria flowers.
